Three-die-16-injured-in-fatal-trailer-accident-in-ogun-state-photo

Three passengers have lost their lives, while 16 others sustained severe injuries in a fatal accident which occurred along Owo/Akure express road in Uso, Owo local government area of Ondo State on the evening of Sallah day.
The accident scene was a gory sight for commuters and other passers-by who saw the victims and the crashed vehicles at the accidents scene.
Vehicular movement was halt for about an hour as officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) battled to rescue some of the victims who were barely alive for urgent medical attention.
Eyewitness narrated that a trailer going to Abuja rammed into two cars while trying to avoid potholes on the road.
The affected vehicles were said to have loaded passengers from Owo to Akure.
accident4-1024x576It was learnt that driver of the trailer took to his heel immediately the accident occurred.
Commuters while joining the rescue process, lamented over the reckless driving of the trailer drivers.
They opined that trailers should be banned from driving during the day in the state, stressing that they do not have regards for the lives of other road users.
Confirming the incident, FRSC Head of Operation, Mr. Akin Adedipe said remains of the three victims have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC), Owo mortuary, while the injured ones are receiving treatment in the same hospital.
He gave the plate number of the trailer as, LSD 438 XE and the two affected cars as, Nissan sunny taxi – AL 750 WWW and Mistibushi station wagon as LQD 122 JD.
